Gauguine Wines 2014 Vintages: Call for artists

We are now accepting submissions of art to be featured on the next series of labels for Gauguine Wine New Labels. The guideline is to create a gauguin inspired painting portraying a women inspiring to be a muse in relation with the art of making wines, from grapes to the glass.  As with the recently released first edition of the wine, Gauguine is looking for submissions by painters to be featured on the labels.


The 1st place winner will receive:

  • $300

  • Artwork displayed on Gauguine Wine Labels along with name of artist

  • Invitation to Gauguine Wine Premiere in September 2016 where the winning artist will be revealed/ featured in our art exhibit and will witness the debut of their winning label.

  • Potential for artwork display in international venues.


The contest guidelines will consist of the following:

  • 3 samples of work (may include slides, photos, brochures, etc.) due by Friday, March 11th, 2016. These application materials will not be returned to the artist. Samples will be judged and invitations to submit a painting for the competition will be announced March 31st, 2016.

  • Entries will be judged by a panel, which includes the owners of Gauguine. The 2nd place winner will receive $100.00 and the 3rd place winner will receive $50.00.

  • The 1st place artwork, to include the composition/frame, title and copyright will become the property Gauguine.

  • Shipping expenses to return non-winning artwork is the responsibility of the artist.


The competition requirements are as follows:

  • Medium for final artwork is open to watercolor, oil, pastel, pencil or acrylic.

  • The suggested size of the final entry is proportionate to the artwork on a wine label, twice as wide as it is tall. The winning artwork will be reduced to fit on a Gauguine label.

  • Subject of artwork must be visually big and bold. Though detail-work is essential.

  • Entry cannot contain trademark symbols, words, flags, military or governmental insignia or logos.

  • Entry forms must be completed in their entirety. Incomplete entry forms will not be accepted.
